These three paintings are origainally inspired by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's speech in Congress after being harassed on the steps of the Capital Building by two congressmen. It is a reflection on what women have to navigate in this world (snakes, sharks, toads) as they go about doing their work.
These images are from the Ghost Gallery show in 2017 titled "Bell Jar". The small hand stitched books inside the glass bell jars were composed of drawings, favorite written song lyrics, and collaged elements, all preserved with beeswax and damar resin. Revisiting these for the sculptural elements for a show
Some more progress today on the Anita Hill painting. Snakes are a really fun challenge to paint. as they have such a variety of complex colors and patterns. We as humans often have an aversion to snakes and I'm using that aversion to say something but I mean no disrespect to snakes! Part of the Ghost Gallery small works holiday show going on now! These are 8" x 10" watercolor and ink, already framed.
